Samuel Sierra NYPD Officer Arrested, Charged For Rape, Assault, And Strangulation
An off-duty New York City police officer, Samuel Sierra, 35, has been arrested on charges of first-degree rape, second-degree strangulation, and third-degree assault. Sierra was taken into custody on Friday in East Harlem, with authorities confirming that the alleged incident was “domestic in nature.”
Sources indicate that the victim is a family member or partner, but additional details about the incident have not been disclosed. Sierra, who joined the NYPD in 2016, has been suspended without pay pending trial. According to the New York Post, he was scheduled for arraignment on Saturday at Manhattan Criminal Court.

City records show Sierra earned $167,584 last year. Most of his career was spent patrolling Brooklyn’s 77th Precinct, though, in December 2023, he was transferred to the Auxiliary Police Section, where he supervised auxiliary officers.
This is not Sierra’s first controversy. In February 2023, he was accused of assaulting a woman in her 20s during a traffic stop and abusing his authority. While the Civilian Complaint Review Board found the incident to be “within department guidelines,” Sierra was required to undergo retraining.
The NYPD has not commented on the case, which has heightened concerns about officer accountability and misconduct.
