Bradley Church Joice IA Accident; 50-Year-Old ManWorth County Died by Accidental Drowning in Clear Lake Water
Investigators have determined there was no foul play involved in the death of a man whose body was recovered from Clear Lake. According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call around 4:27 p.m. on Saturday near North Shore Drive and East Lake Street, close to the aerator. A sportsman had reported seeing what appeared to be a body floating in the water.
The Sheriff’s Office confirmed the report using a drone to survey the open water. Fire crews from Clear Lake and Ventura retrieved the body, later identified as 59-year-old Bradley Church of Joice.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death, with assistance from the Clear Lake Police Department.
Cerro Gordo County Chief Deputy Sheriff Dave Hepperly stated the incident was reported as a possible drowning at approximately 4:30 p.m., and the body was found in open water. Authorities are currently working to notify the man’s family, and additional information is expected to be released in a press statement on Sunday.
