John Redinger Ramsey, NJ Train Accident: Family and friends mourn the horrific death of Borough man who died in Ramsey station train collision
Authorities have identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a train near the Ramsey station on Monday morning as a 62-year-old man from the borough.
John Redinger was fatally hit around 9:15 a.m. just east of the station by train No. 56 on the Port Jervis Line, according to NJ Transit spokesperson Kyalo Mulumba. The train had departed Port Jervis, New York, at 7:39 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 9:52 a.m.
None of the 10 passengers or crew members on board were injured. Train service on the Port Jervis, Main, and Bergen County lines was suspended for more than two hours, with delays continuing for several hours before operations returned to normal around 5:30 p.m.
